Unsolved Homicide Investigations:

Case#1- Death of Beverly Swearingen
In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 18, 1996, Washington Police and Fire Departments responded to a call of a house fire at 205 South High Street in Washington, Illinois. Upon arrival, officers noted fire damage to the home and the garage fully engulfed in flames. The local fire department suppressed the fire and discovered the body of Beverly Swearingen in the back seat of her vehicle. Officers are currently investigating the events surrounding this death. Case #2- Death of Richard Neavear
On July 4, 1995, the family of Richard Neavear contacted the Pekin Police Department to report their son missing. In the days following, a body, later identified as that of Richard Neavear, was discovered in a field behind Wilson School in Pekin, Illinois. Authorities are currently investigating the events surrounding this death. Case #3- Death of Mary L. Maynor
On May 31, 1974, Pekin Police Department found the body of Mary L. Maynor in her apartment in Pekin, Illinois. A subsequent autopsy revealed that her death was a result of multiple stab wounds to the body. Officers are currently investigating the events surrounding this death. Unsolved Missing Persons Investigation:

The disappearance of Richard W. Griener
On January 17, 1972, the Pekin Police Department received a call of a missing child. The subsequent investigation has led officers to believe that the boy, 13 years of age at the time, disappeared from his residence at #8 Brentwood Court in Pekin, Illinois. Authorities remain actively involved in this case.
