Auditor

Brett Grimm is the Tazewell County Auditor. He is independent of other county departments and offices. He brings a systematic and objective approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
The responsibilities of the Auditor include:

  • Developing and implementing a flexible audit plan.
  • Conducting financial, compliance, operational, performance, and information systems audits.
  • Documenting audit evidence and issuing periodic reports to the Tazewell County Board.
  • Keep general accounts as general accountant.
  • Approving orders of supplies by county officers.
  • Auditing all receipts of county officers and departments presented for deposit with the county treasurer.
  • Maintain a file of all contracts entered into by county board and authorized officers.
  • Investigate all issues of suspected fraud.
  • Ensure compliance is maintained with all federal, state, and local laws.
