Individuals who are sentenced to complete public service hours by the Court have several options to pursue in order to complete their requirements. Probation Officers have discretion as to which options each individual may choose, depending on the circumstances.
In September, 2009, Tazewell County Probation implemented the Food Pantry program. Probation clients may purchase nonperishable items of food to donate to the Tazewell County Veterans Assistance Commission in return for public service hours. Tazewell County Probation coordinates the program. This program serves as a meaningful way for the client to give back to the community.
Individuals also have the option of working public service hours at local not-for-profit agencies. For a list of current available agencies, contact your probation officer.
Other opportunities to complete public service hours are also available. For more details, contact your probation officer.
